Discover the Camino del Norte, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO during this 6-night program, in which you will walk along the best stages, staying in the best hotels and eating in renowned restaurants of the northern part of the Peninsula. 

This variant of the Camino, which maintained great vitality until the XVIII century, not only attracted pilgrims from Asturias but also pilgrims from all over the north of the Peninsula, and even from other parts of Europe such as England, Flanders, Germany or Scandinavia.

It has been associated with a route of illustrated pilgrims, linked to figures such as St. Francis of Assisi, who according to the Jacobean tradition made a pilgrimage to Santiago in 1214.

PROGRAM 

Day 1: San Sebastian - Hotel María Cristina - Pintxos Tour /Arzak 

Arrival in San Sebastian. Accommodation for tonight will be at the Hotel María Cristina. Surrounded by gardens overlooking the Urumea River and contiguous to the majestic Victoria Eugenia Theater, the elegant and refined Hotel María Cristina is located in the center of San Sebastian.
Decorated in the style of the Belle Epoque, stars such as Coco Chanel and Bruce Springsteen have stayed in its rooms. It is the hotel of the stars of the San Sebastian International Film Festival. It is worth arriving in time to visit it and enjoy its facilities.

In the late afternoon you will meet up with our expert guide to walk around and get to know the city and enjoy one of the most popular activities, a pintxo tour, haute cuisine in small doses. You will discover the best places and the best flavors, an experience that will allow you to participate in the life of the city like a local. San Sebastian is undoubtedly a mecca for food lovers, so we offer you a Plan B: a reservation at the "Arzak Restaurant", the great culinary institution of the Basque Country.

Day 2: San Sebastian-Zarautz-Deba-Bilbao. On foot: 10 km. 

Today we will do our first walking stage. We start the Camino in Zarautz following the coast to Guetaria, and from there to Zumaia and Elorriaga. The stage ends in Deba. A route with spectacular views and beautiful villages. Time to regain strength, as today we have the opportunity to enjoy the gastronomy of the Basque coast, with a reservation at the "Asador Astillero", a classic grilled fish restaurant in the port of Getaria. 

In the afternoon transfer to Bilbao and accommodation at the luxurious Carlton Hotel. We complete the day with a private tour to the Guggenheim Museum.

Day 3: Bilbao-Galizano-Somo-Santander-Santillana del Mar. On foot: 10 km 

We leave Bilbao to head towards the coast of Cantabria, and we choose for our stage on foot the village of Galizano. There we start the route following the coastline, bordering the cliffs, until we reach Somo, just in front of Santander, where we will go next to recharge our batteries and get to know this beautiful city.

In the afternoon we move to Santillana del Mar, an essential visit in any trip to the north; here our Hotel Casa del Marqués awaits us. For dinner we have chosen the restaurant "Palacio Mijares", a place with exquisite gastronomy in a monumental building.

Day 4: Santillana del Mar- Ribadesella - Cofiño. On foot: 10 km

We head towards the Principality of Asturias, and a little after Ribadesella we start the stage on foot, accompanied by wonderful views of mountains and beaches, an easy and beautiful stretch. For lunch today we chose a cider house where you can enjoy traditional food and atmosphere. 

This region boasts of being a natural paradise, hence we have chosen to stay in a very special resort. Located in the National Park of the Picos de Europa, the "Puebloastur" is a hotel surrounded by nature that also has two magnificent restaurants where Chef Ramón Celorio will surprise us with flavors and textures.

Day 5: Cofiño-Villaviciosa-Valdediós-Avilés. On foot: 10 km

Today we choose the inland valleys and for this we head to Villaviciosa, where we start our way through rural landscapes, ending at the amazing and very interesting pre-Romanesque church of San Salvador de Valdediós.

From here we head to Áviles, a city once known only for its industry but that has managed to transform and take exquisite care of its urban center.
Accommodation at the NH Collection Palacio de Avilés. For dinner we move to Casa Gerardo, where Los Morán, father and son, fourth and fifth generation, maintain a house that has been an example of Asturian gastronomy for more than 135 years.

Day 6: Avilés-Tapia de Casariego-Ribadeo-Santiago de Compostela. On foot: 11 km 

Today we approach the eastern end of Asturias, and there, in Tapia de Casariego we begin our last stage of the Camino del Norte before reaching Santiago de Compostela. The first town in Galicia is Ribadeo, where we will stop to enjoy a good meal at the San Miguel, overlooking the estuary before moving to our goal.

We will walk into the old town until we reach the Plaza del Obradoiro, where we will find the Cathedral and our accommodation for today, the former Pilgrims' Hospital converted into the 5* Parador de Turismo de los Reyes Católicos. Free afternoon to enjoy the city and reservation tonight at the restaurant "A Tafona by Lucia Freitas".

Day 7: Santiago de Compostela

During the morning we will visit the city with a local expert, who will reveal the secrets of this magnificent place. We will learn about the history, gastronomy, monuments and life of Compostela. Perhaps we will also comply with the rituals of the pilgrims such as entering the Holy Door, visiting the crypt or participating in the "Pilgrim's Mass", where we may even be lucky and see the "botafumeiro" in operation.

We have come to the end of our Camino del Norte experience, with many memories of exceptional people, landscapes, flavors and accommodations...
